About Us

Our team represents Princeton University in all ICSA (College Sailing) competitions and within our conference — MAISA (Mid-Atlantic Region). Recently, Princeton Sailing has undertaken the goal of ascending the ranks of College Sailing once again. In 1928, we won the inaugural Big Three Championship Regatta — an event that first established sailing as a collegiate sport. Since then, we have allowed hardworking students to escape onto the water a few times a week. At one time, Princeton was a national powerhouse, winning nine national championships in all. These included four straight Women’s Championships from 1974 to 1977, and coed national championships in 1940, 1941, and 1963. Now, our goal is to build a program that can compete at that level once again, but we know it will be an arduous process.

Consisting of around 40 sailors, we thrive off our tight-knit community that strives for excellence, but makes sure to have plenty of fun while doing so. We are a program built on student leadership with an Officer Board consisting of ten sailors deliberating on most decisions off the water.

Our team currently runs dinghy practices at Anchor Yacht Club right across the Delaware River in Bristol, Pennsylvania and offshore practices at Raritan Yacht Club in Perth Amboy, NJ. Our sailors travel to the venue five times a week to practice at a location that emulates many other college sailing venues. Currently, our fleet consists of new 12 E420s and 6 FJs.
